Once the home is ready, photography is the most important part of properly marketing a property. With technology being at everyone’s fingertips and buyers having access to all the properties we put on the MLS, it is incredibly important that we make the best first impression possible. Pictures are the best way to do this.


When looking through hundreds of real estate photos on a regular basis, I have learned that there are certain pictures that have more of an impact on my clients than others. This has led me to working with photographers in a way that is a little different from the norm. Instead of large full room shots that show everything, I prefer cozier shots that showcase individual spaces. Especially because most people look at properties on their phones, I believe that the closer in shots have more of an emotional impact. It has become a fun part of the process to meet the photographer at the house and work closely with them to find all the unique details in the home and figure out the best way to showcase them.


When we experience something in real life, it is difficult to convey the emotional impact that has on us. A good photographer can see what is creating that feeling and knows how to capture it through their lens. Lighting, having a good stager for furniture and accessory arrangements, and proper set up of the shot all come into play when doing this.
